How Does The PACT Core Learning Path Work?
- Safety Knowledge Check
- Math Knowledge Check
- Tools & Materials Knowledge Check
- The New You Tool Knowledge Check
The student earns their certificate by completing the knowledge checks. If the student completes no other content, the learning path is only 44% complete.
How Do I Grade My Students?
In this section, we will cover how to grade your students.
Step 1: Once completed with a Learning Path (in this example the CORE Learning Path) your students will then need to begin the Student Achievement Self-Evaluation by clicking on the course on their Dashboard.
After students have passed all four PACT Core Knowledge Checks (70% cut score) AND at least 80% of all learning objectives (tasks) on the PACT Skill Achievement Records (SAR), should they complete the PACT Core Student Achievement Self-Evaluation Course? All SAR’s can be found in your PACT Instructor Guide at the end of each Unit.
The PACT Core Student Achievement Self-Evaluation Course becomes unlocked in CTEtechWorks® and available for students after they have passed the required Knowledge Checks for each PACT Core Unit.
They are:
Unit 1: PACT CORE Introduction to Construction: Safety Knowledge Check
Unit 2: PACT CORE Introduction to Construction: Math Knowledge Check
Unit 3: PACT CORE Introduction to Construction: Tools & Materials Knowledge Check
Unit 4: PACT CORE Career Wiz: The New You Tool Knowledge Check
Step 2: Your students will now have to start this course.
After clicking the “Start this course" button, the screen below will open. As it clearly indicates, this is a “checklist” that will guide the student through all the skills they have been taught and they are indicating whether they are ready for the final evaluation by their instructor.
Step 3: After entering the course there is a description of how this works. After reading, the student will need to click Start.
This also lets the students know, when they complete this self-evaluation, only when the instructor marks the student as proficient will their PACT Core certificate be available in the student's Achievements tab on their CTETechWorks® (LMS) account. Click the gold “continue” button.
Step 4: Your students will then see all the proficiencies that are needed, which are as they appear on the Skill Achievement Records.
In this next step of this process, the student is to visually review all 76 learning objectives that their instructor has covered and taught in PACT Core. These 76 learning objectives are organized by PACT Unit topic.
Unit 1: Safety
Unit 2: Construction Math & Print Reading
Unit 3: Hand & Power Tools and Construction Materials
Unit 4: Preparing for and professionalism in the Workforce (Career Wizard)
Be sure to encourage your students to carefully review these to evaluate whether or not they can do these specific tasks and to ask themselves “Am I able to perform each item accurately without supervision?”.
Step 5: Your students will be able to view the evaluation responses but do not have the ability to select any of them. This will not allow your students to self-complete. After they select “START EVALUATION WITH ADMINISTRATOR” you will receive a notification on your Dashboard.
The student is now done with this course and a notification will appear in the form of a numerical number added to the “Modules Require Marking” tile on the Instructor’s Admin Dashboard.
Step 6: The notification will be in the “Modules Require Marking” tile on your dashboard. Click the “Go to Marking” button.
Step 7: There will be a list of all courses that require marking as well as the number of students who have completed those courses. Select the blue title of the Learning Path you will be evaluating.
Step 8: Click “Checklist”, beside the student's name you wish to evaluate.
Note: By using the Auto-Calc SAR’s to track your student's proficiencies you will only use this “Checklist” after your students have demonstrated proficiency in 80% of the skills for each of the four CORE units.
Step 9: Click the appropriate evaluation.
Note: If you do not want to award a certificate check the first box only, to pass a student and issue a certificate the bottom two boxes must be checked.
Step 10: Click “Finished marking” when complete.
Step 11: To access your student's certificate return to your Dashboard and select “People”
Step 12: Search for the name of the student, click the name of the student
Please Note: Do not check the box
Step 13: Navigate to the Achievements tab, look for the green text: Download Certificate, and click it. A pdf will download.
